On July 1, 2009 the State of Colorado imposed a state wide regulation requiring all conveyances to be inspected by a state licensed elevator inspector no less than annually.

Conveyance owners located in areas not having an "Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)" are required to have their conveyance inspected by an Independent third party Certified (QEI) Quality Elevator Inspector licensed by the State of Colorado.
